Tofu Forwarders
TOFUWARD is made by people who go, look, and taste: who document, edit and design the living geography of tofu. Tell us about a place, or join us.
Tell us a place
A tofu shop, an eatery, a market stall with a story worth telling. Two minutes to make them seen.
We read every suggestion. If it fits, it goes on Tofulogue, usually within a few days.
The Forwarders
Each Forwarder has a profile page listing the places they spotted and the stories they wrote.
Become a Forwarder
You don't need to be a professional. You do need to be able to go somewhere, look closely, and write it up well.
Ethnographer
- Document tofu making process, places and tofu culture where you live or travel. Your work becomes City Notes and spots on Tofulogue, and can run in the magazine.
- The ability to write a feature story and photograph the experience.
Editor
- [Draft] Shape and edit stories with Ethnographers, for the site and the magazine.
- [Draft] Editing experience, ideally in features or food writing.
Designer
- [Draft] Layouts, illustration and maps for the magazine and the site.
- [Draft] A portfolio of editorial or print work.
What you get
- Your copyright stays yours.
- Your byline on the site, and in print when your work runs in the magazine.
- A Forwarder profile that collects everything you contribute.
- A say in what TOFUWARD becomes.
Honestly: this is unpaid for now. TOFUWARD is self-funded, and every story so far was researched at the founder's own cost. When there is money for commissions, Forwarders come first.
Questions
Is it paid?
Not yet. TOFUWARD is self-funded. That may change, and when it does, Forwarders come first.
Do I need to be a professional?
No. But you need to be able to write a feature story, and you need field research experience.
Who owns my words and photos?
You do. You give TOFUWARD permission to publish them on the site, in the magazine and on our channels, with your credit.
Who decides how my story is told?
You have the final word on your text.
